After completing its network expansions in Blair Township, Allegheny Township, Duncansville Borough, and Hollidaysburg Borough earlier this year, Comcast today announced it’s continuing to expand in Blair County. The company is extending its fast, reliable network to nearly 30,000 additional homes and businesses in parts of the City of Altoona and Logan Township. Construction is underway to deliver the full suite of Xfinity and Comcast Business products, including Xfinity Internet and Mobile as well as Comcast Business Internet and Mobile, with the project expected to be completed in late 2026.
“We are thrilled to welcome the arrival of Xfinity and Comcast Business products and services to more constituents in Blair County. This expansion will provide our residents and businesses with cutting-edge connectivity solutions, enhancing our digital infrastructure and fostering economic growth,” said Matt Pacifico, Mayor, City of Altoona. “We welcome Comcast’s commitment to innovation and look forward to the opportunities it will bring to additional communities in Blair County.”
Comcast’s network expansion has been a welcome addition to Blair County offering residents and businesses more choices.
“I signed up for Xfinity Internet for their speeds and reliability when they came to Hollidaysburg earlier this year,” said David, a local resident and Xfinity customer. “I feel confident in my service thanks to the positive experience with the team. It’s great having Comcast services available in our local area and I’m excited they’re expanding to other communities nearby.”
Residents and businesses can visit Xfinity.com/MyTown and enter their addresses for additional details on construction timing and upcoming service availability. They can also visit their local Xfinity store at 1801 N. Atherton Street, State College, PA 16801.
“We continue to focus on broadening access to fast, reliable Internet,” said Ricky Frazier Jr., Senior Vice President for Comcast’s Keystone Region, which is based in Pennsylvania. “Our expansion in Blair County will enable us to service more residents and local businesses with our superior network to help them remain connected to what matters most.”
In addition to this project, Comcast is accelerating its expansion across Pennsylvania with construction or project completions in other parts of the state including Allegheny, Blair, Luzerne, and Northumberland Counties. Comcast was also recently awarded more than $61 million by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, through its Broadband Infrastructure Program, to bring its residential and commercial services to more parts of 13 counties.
Over the last several years, Comcast expanded its network to more than 315,000 additional homes and businesses across the Commonwealth. Comcast’s network and Internet experience are powering homes today and into the future.
- Ultimate Capacity: Xfinity customers connect more than 1 billion devices across the company’s network annually. With the next-generation Xfinity gateways, we deliver the most advanced WiFi technology carrying three times more bandwidth to power streaming, gaming, videoconferencing, and more, simultaneously.
- Fastest Internet: More than a third of Xfinity Internet customers subscribe to gigabit speed products. Recently Comcast connected the first customers in the world to a DOCSIS 4.0 connection, delivering symmetrical gig speeds over existing connections in customers’ homes with plans to continue to rollout these speeds across the country over the coming years.
- Unprecedented Coverage: The latest Xfinity Gateway provides a more reliable connection throughout the home. Customers can get wall-to-wall WiFi coverage with a powerful WiFi Boost Pod that extends coverage to hard-to-reach areas of the home.
- Most Reliable Connection: Comcast is scaling the nation’s largest and most reliable network that passes 62 million homes and businesses and counting. The company launched Storm-Ready WiFi, a new device that comes powered with cellular and battery backup to help keep customers connected even when the power goes out.
- Ultra-Low Latency: The Xfinity network and the latest Xfinity Gateway are a powerful combination that deliver ultra-low latency for those moments when response times matter most like video games, a fast-growing category with Xfinity households averaging more than one gaming console per home.
