While many of Comcast’s employees continue to work virtually, our employee resource groups are helping employees keep connected, healthy and engaged in our communities.

Our Black Employee Network’s (BEN) recent Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was an opportunity for employees to discuss Dr. King’s 6 principles of non-violence. “It was a great discussion about King as a leader and front runner in the civil rights movement, and how it relates to today,” said BEN co-lead Michael Hopkins. BEN’s Wellbeing Committee even organized a virtual Dream Forward 5k for members to run separately throughout Comcast’s Keystone Region.

Comcast’s MyAbilities Employee Resource Group hosts a weekly OurAbilities series to showcase the work of different departments. The series has helped employees learn about different job functions and meet coworkers throughout the region. “MyAbilities is partnering with Community Options for the second year in a row to run the virtual Cupid’s Chase 5k,” said MyAbilities co-lead Angie Schneider. “Community Options has locations in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh so employees across Pennsylvania can participate.”

Comcast’s Unidos members have developed podcasts, hosted career development programs and produced videos of employees reading stories in Spanish to share with parents. They’re planning programs to help employees learn more about Comcast’s Internet Essentials program and the newly launched Lift Zones that help provide Internet access to low-income families in Pittsburgh and Reading.

VetNet is focusing on a project that will support Comcast technicians working in the field provide a service to customers they visit for installation and service calls. “VetNet’s Customer Flag Replacement Project launched last year in Comcast’s Freedom Region and we’re working to roll out a similar program in the Keystone Region later this year,” said Greg Wagner, VetNet’s co-lead. “The idea is for us to provide new American flags to customers if we see that theirs is ready to be retired.”

Comcast’s Young Professionals Network (YPN) and Women’s Network have hosted weekly programs like Fireside Fridays and Coffee, Chat & Chill for members to attend virtually. “Regular programs give employees something to look forward to,” said Lyndsay Pollock, YPN co-lead. “Comcast’s employee resource groups have been a bright spot since last March, helping us stay connected with each other through a virtual mentoring program and even planning virtual community service projects like our Senior Smiles holiday card campaign.”

Members of the OUT@Comcast employee resource group will participate in a company-wide panel discussion to kick off 2021, featuring special guests from NBC News, Comcast and The TODAY Show. “Virtual events like the OUT@Comcast 2021 Kickoff allow us to interact with people from other parts of the business much more easily,” said Brandi Donehoo, OUT co-lead. “Meeting virtually has given us access to great programming and to each other, like never before.”
