Comcast Adds More than 70 XFINITY Outdoor WiFi Hotspots in Williamsport and South Williamsport

WILLIAMSPORT, PA – April 4, 2016 – Comcast today announced it has launched more than 70 Xfinity WiFi outdoor hotspots in Williamsport and South Williamsport over the past four months, part of the ongoing expansion of a WiFi network in its Keystone Region that now includes more than 4,100 hotspots providing free access points that keep Comcast customers connected on the go.

These outdoor hotspots have been located near shopping and dining destinations, government offices, auto repair businesses, hair salons, places of worship, entertainment complexes and other venues throughout Williamsport where customers go on a regular basis. These complement Comcast’s 13 million existing residential and business hotspots across the nation, and most Xfinity Internet customers can access them at no additional cost.

Comcast is the largest WiFi provider in the state. Its Keystone Region comprises western, central and northeastern Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, northern West Virginia and the Maryland panhandle.

Available Williamsport access points include near the Little League World Series Complex in South Williamsport; along East 3rd Street’s business corridor; along Hepburn Street, including near City Hall and Digiplex Cinema Center; along Washington Boulevard; along West 4th Street, including near Pennsylvania College of Technology and the Workforce Development and Continuing Education complex; along Dewey Avenue, including near the Lycoming Creek Bikeway; along Maynard Street, including near Ways Garden Park; along Blaine Street, including near Bowman Field; along Arch Street; and along West Lincoln Avenue in South Williamsport.

“As we continue to invest in our WiFi network, we are bringing Williamsport-area residents new levels of connectivity and convenience,” said Christine Whitaker, senior vice president of Comcast’s Keystone Region.

Most Xfinity Internet customers can access Xfinity WiFi hotspots by selecting “xfinitywifi” from the list of available networks on their laptops or mobile devices and entering their Comcast email and password. The Xfinity WiFi App, available for download on both iOS and Android devices, makes it easy to locate business and outdoor hotspots, or customers can visit the hotspot finder map online at www.xfinity.com/wifi.

After signing in for the first time, customers will automatically connect to any Xfinity WiFi hotspot in the future, allowing them to save on wireless data plans and easily take advantage of access points available across the country, including popular vacation destinations along the East Coast.

Comcast’s Xfinity Wi-Fi network ensures customers have the fastest available online experience in their home, at work and in popular outdoor areas. According to Cisco, 88 percent of all U.S. data traffic on mobile and portable devices will travel over Wi-Fi by 2018.
