At Comcast, promoting diversity, equity and inclusion across our workforce, products and content is at our core every day. We are proud to showcase diverse voices that influence our local communities and create inclusive environments this Hispanic Heritage Month and beyond.
A dedicated Comcast employee, Delcio, is an Assistant Store Manager at the Reading, Pennsylvania Xfinity Store located at 2777 Papermill Rd. He helps manage the store team and assists customers with their needs daily while living out his mission to make a meaningful impact with every interaction. When Delcio isn’t in the store, he spends time leading the local Unidos team – an employee resource group that champions Hispanic and Latino professionals within Comcast.
We sat down with Delcio to learn more about him, his love for his job and his heritage.
Q: What are our customers looking for when they walk into your Xfinity Store, and how do your responsibilities as a store leader impact our customers?
Our customers are looking for answers or solutions that simplify their lives and improve their digital experiences. Many want high-speed Internet that can handle the demands of multiple devices, such as streaming, gaming and working from home. They’re also interested in reliable and seamless connectivity that they can count on.
My team and I provide personalized solutions, answer their questions and make sure they leave the store with a great experience. It’s about enhancing their connection to what matters most to them — whether that’s entertainment, productivity or staying connected with loved ones – through our full suite of Xfinity products.
Q: What current project excites you the most at Comcast?
Through my interaction with customers in the store each day, I get to see and hear firsthand the impact that connectivity has on their lives. The work the company is doing to expand our high-speed broadband network to bring more people access to our products and services is exciting to me right now.
Specifically, the projects in Pennsylvania, including in parts of Berks County, where I live, bring my personal and professional life together. The network expansion in Berks County means more of my neighbors will be able to experience the power of Comcast’s products including Xfinity Internet, Xfinity Mobile, Xfinity TV and Streaming Services and Xfinity Home Security, as well as Comcast Business Internet and Mobile. I look forward to introducing more residents and businesses to our products when they visit the Reading Xfinity Store.
Q: What is your favorite Xfinity product, and how do you use it in your own life to stay connected to what’s important to you?
My favorite Xfinity product is the Xfinity xFi because it helps me manage my home network easily, ensuring that all my devices are connected securely and running smoothly. I love how I can control my WiFi settings through the app, monitor usage and even pause the connection when needed. I find myself using that feature when it’s time to put the screens away during family meals around the dinner table or when my daughter is getting ready for bed. The advanced security features also give me peace of mind that my personal information and network are protected.
Q: It’s been an amazing Hispanic Heritage Month. How do you usually celebrate?
Being Dominican, Hispanic Heritage Month is a special time to reflect with my family and celebrate the vibrant culture that has shaped who I am today. I’ve been spending time with family, enjoying traditional dishes like empanadas or mangú tres golpes, which is mashed plantain with fried salami and eggs, and sharing stories that keep our heritage alive. Normally we attend local events that highlight the achievements and contributions of the Hispanic community, from music and dance performances to art exhibitions and more. It’s important to take this time to recognize our history and pass on these traditions to the younger generation.
Q: Diversity, equity and inclusion are a core value of our business. How have you engaged in these efforts as a Comcast teammate and leader?
Diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I) are values I strongly believe in, and as a
Comcast leader, I’m committed to promoting an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued. I’ve engaged in DE&I efforts by participating in employee resource groups such as Unidos and mentoring new hires from diverse backgrounds to ensure they feel supported and empowered to grow within the company. I also strive to create a workspace where diverse perspectives are inspired, knowing that innovation comes from the inclusion of different viewpoints.
When it comes to our customers, we have a strong Hispanic community in the Reading, PA area. We make sure our customers are aware of our multicultural offerings like NOW TV Latino, and being Spanish-speaking myself, I love when I have the opportunity to speak the language with customers. I know they walk away feeling more understood, connected and represented.
Q: Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, Xfinity has offered a curated collection of bilingual and bicultural movies, TV shows and more. Do you have any favorites?
One of my personal favorites is TV Dominicana. It allows me to enjoy a variety of shows and stay updated on local news and entertainment from the Dominican Republic. It’s great to have access to bilingual and bicultural content through Xfinity that resonates with me and my family. Whether it’s a classic movie or watching Dominican sports, TV Dominicana makes it easy to stay connected to our heritage while sharing those moments with my daughter.
