Bobby, a longtime Comcast Direct Sales Representative in Central Pennsylvania, had an extra reason to cheer on Team USA during Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024: his daughter, Alyssa, secured a gold medal as a forward on the USA Women’s Basketball team. Team USA took the gold medal after defeating France, and while most fans, friends, and family caught the game via X1, NBC, or streaming on Peacock, Bobby took in the action live from Bercy Arena.
A 15-year Comcast veteran and dedicated member of his local community in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Bobby is a star employee in the Keystone Region helping customers connect to the Xfinity network. And when he’s not working with residents, he’s spending time with his family, including his wife, Tina, and daughter, Alyssa, who has worked her way to basketball’s highest stages, making the sport so much more than the family could have ever imagined.
We caught up with Bobby to learn about how he’s feeling on the heels of The Olympics.
Bobby, making it to the global stage is a tremendous achievement, not to mention winning gold! How did it feel to embrace that moment with your family?
“It is a priceless experience to see something your child has worked so hard for become a reality. Words can’t describe how proud we are of her and having the opportunity to attend in-person was so awesome!”
What was your favorite moment?
“Besides meeting all of the players and families from the Men’s and Women’s USA Basketball Team, which was great, my favorite moment was when Alyssa placed the gold medal on my wife’s neck and said, “If it wasn’t for you and Dad, I wouldn’t be a gold medalist!” It was such a special moment I will never forget.”
How were you able to stay connected to family and friends back home while abroad for the competition?
“I was able to stay connected using my Xfinity Mobile Global Travel Pass for unlimited calls and text messages while abroad. Being able to watch everything live and stay in contact with family and friends at home was the best of both worlds. And as a longtime Comcast employee, I loved seeing the power of Comcast’s connectivity while enjoying my time in Paris.”
While Bobby was in Paris, back at home, Xfinity customers – including those Bobby has connected – were able to access all things Olympics on X1, including an enhanced 4K experience from Xfinity. The X1 Olympics destination also featured curated and personalized access to every minute of coverage across the networks of NBCUniversal, including NBC, USA Network, E!, CNBC, GOLF Channel, Telemundo, Universo, two new Paris Extra channels that featured 24/7 Olympics programming, as well as streaming on Peacock. Easily accessible by saying “Olympics” into the voice remote, the destination featured new capabilities that made experiencing all the joy of The Olympics simple, easy and intuitive.
