Comcast NBCUniversal Honoring Veterans

Comcast Employee Shannon Houser

Military veterans play an important role at Comcast NBCUniversal, and Veterans Day is an opportunity to thank our customers, employees and community members who have served and continue to serve our country. Watch the incredible story of Kevin Hodits, Manager of Installation and Service here in the Keystone Region, as he is one of thousands of military veterans across the nation who make Comcast a great place to work.

Comcast NBCUniversal has been recognized as the top employer nationally for veterans by Military Times in its Best for Vets: Employers 2020 list. This marked the fifth consecutive year of being honored on the list and the first time Comcast NBCUniversal was named No. 1. The ranking reflects our ongoing commitment to creating a military-friendly and military-ready environment for employees. This includes active duty health benefits plan, military spouse transfer assistance, 15 days paid time off annually for military training in addition to normal paid time off, and support from our dedicated military concierge service team to assist with needs such as the transition of working both military and civilian careers simultaneously.

The entire month of November is one in which our Keystone Region VetNet Employee Resource Group will participate in event planning and volunteer activities that serve our communities by helping to honor veterans.

VetNet will once again this year participate in Wreaths across America, providing wreaths at both the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hanover, PA and the Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA, to honor those who served and teach children about the value of freedom. National Wreaths Across America Day is Dec. 19 and will see wreaths provided at more than 2,100 locations across all 50 states.

VetNet will also partner with Stars for Our Troops Inc. as part of a special thank-you note to the more than 100 veterans who are part of our Comcast team in the Keystone Region. This program takes the stars from torn and retired flags across the nation and provides them to veterans.

VetNet is also hosting a virtual program Nov. 19 as part of our internal Voices of Impact series to present an opportunity for employees to share time with a leader from the Veterans Leadership Program of Pittsburgh, and VetNet will also be participating throughout the month and into December in collecting new and unwrapped toys for Toys For Tots.

All these events and programs not only support veterans inside and outside our company but also increase awareness among employees about Comcast NBCUniversal’s commitment to hire an additional 11,000 veterans, military spouses and National Guard and Reserve members by the end of 2021 to reach a company-wide total of 21,000.
