More Consumers and Businesses in Northeast PA to have Access to Comcast’s Advanced Network and Suite of Innovative Products and Services

KINGSTON, PA (July 9, 2020) – Comcast today announced it is expanding its network to the borough of Kingston, giving residents and businesses a new choice for video, internet, mobile, voice and home security and automation services.

Construction to extend Comcast’s advanced network throughout Kingston began in 2019 and is expected to be complete in late 2020. More than half of Kingston residents and businesses already have access to the network. “This is great news for Kingston,” said Pennsylvania Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-120). “I am pleased that our residents will now have additional network services to choose from to assist with their personal or business needs. This is a step in the right direction for the entire West Side as network technology continues to advance and expand.”

Said Kingston Mayor Paul Roberts, Jr., “We welcome Comcast to our community. Comcast will provide our residents and businesses with new and exciting opportunities in accessing advanced video and networking technologies. We look forward to a long-term partnership with Comcast.”

In addition to Gigabit internet service and unique home WiFi control capabilities with xFi, residential customers in Kingston will have access to all Xfinity services, including the award-winning Xfinity X1 video platform, Xfinity Home, Xfinity Voice and Xfinity Mobile, and businesses in these areas can get the full suite of Comcast Business products and services, including Ethernet network speeds up to 100 Gigabits-per-second.

“We are thrilled by the overwhelmingly positive response to our Xfinity and Comcast Business products and services from residents and business owners in Kingston,” said Michael Parker, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Keystone Region. “We are pleased to be part of the community and look forward to completing the expansion of our services to all residents of Kingston.”

Comcast continues to invest in its network to meet consumer demand, providing among the fastest, most reliable internet speeds over its fiber-rich network and one of the fastest in-home Wi-Fi experiences. Comcast also offers Internet Essentials, the national’s largest and most comprehensive broadband adoption program, providing low-cost broadband service, digital literacy training and discounted computers.

Comcast also looks forward to making a positive impact in its newest community of Kingston. Comcast has a long history of giving back to the communities where it provides service and where its employees live and work.  Across Pennsylvania in 2019, Comcast/NBCUniversal provided more than $44 million in cash and in-kind support to community partners in the form of Comcast Foundation grants, sponsorships, public service announcements, scholarships and courtesy video and Internet services to schools, libraries, and Boys & Girls Clubs. In Luzerne County, Comcast recently partnered with United Way of Wyoming Valley and previously completed Comcast Cares Day partnership projects in Forty Fort and Duryea.
