Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Comcast
We’re always working to infuse diversity and inclusion into everything we do at Comcast, whether that’s through our employee resource groups, our community investments, or our products, and we’re excited to be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with our Pennsylvania employees and customers once again this year.
For instance, Comcasters throughout Pennsylvania kicked off Hispanic Heritage Month with panel discussions in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh. Unidos, one of the seven employee resource groups in the region, hosted the events at both locations. In Harrisburg, George Fernandez, publisher of Latino Connection Magazine; Annie Diaz, Board President of Latin American Cultural Center and Luz Colon, Executive Director of the Governor’s Advisory Commission for Latino Affairs visited Comcast’s Harrisburg Call Center to share their perspectives about youth mentorship and collaboration between community partnerships to elevate the Hispanic population.
George offered insight into opportunities to focus on, “Being invited to the party is great but being invited to dance is even better. It’s no longer the issue of equality, it’s the issue of equity and all of us being given the same opportunities across the same board.”
In Pittsburgh, Yvonne Campos, Board Member for the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area Hispanic Chambers of Commerce; Laura Perkins, Emergency Response Organizer for Casa San Jose and Andrea Peraza, an intern at the Latino Community Center and the winner of the Strong Women, Strong Girls Pittsburgh 2019 Award, all shared stories about their experiences serving new families and supporting Latino-owned businesses in the region.
Additionally, Xfinity is honoring the Hispanic community with a collection of great content, customer stories, and more.
