Offers the Fastest Speeds to the Most Homes and Businesses Over Its Existing Network Infrastructure
GETTYSBURG, PA – August 8, 2018 – Comcast today announced that it has extended the reach of a new internet service that delivers speeds up to 1 Gigabit-per-second (Gbps) to more residential and business customers in both Adams County and York County. These speeds will be among the fastest and most widely available and include access to the nation’s largest Wi-Fi network of more than 19 million hotspots.
This speed was launched in most areas of York County and a small number of eastern Adams County municipalities in early May.
Comcast’s new 1 Gigabit Internet service uses DOCSIS 3.1 technology that makes it possible to deliver ultra-fast speeds over the existing communications lines that are already in most homes and neighborhoods. To enjoy the service, all customers need to do is install a new DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem.
In Adams County, this speed is now available in the boroughs of Gettysburg, Arendtsville, Bendersville, Carroll Valley, Biglersville, East Berlin, Bonneauville, Littlestown and New Oxford and the townships of Butler, Cumberland, Franklin, Freedom, Highland, Hamiltonban, Liberty, Menallen, Tyrone, Germany, Hamilton, Mt. Joy, Oxford, Straban, Union, Reading, Huntington, York Springs and Latimore.
In York County, this speed is now available in the boroughs of Seven Valleys, Spring Grove, Jefferson, New Salem, Glen Rock, Shrewsbury, New Freedom and Railroad and the townships of Dover, Paradise, Washington, Warrington, Jackson, Manheim, North Codorus, Codorus, West Manchester, Springfield and Shrewsbury.

With a 1 Gigabit connection, customers can:
- Download a 5 Gigabyte HD movie in 40 seconds;
- Download a 600 Megabyte TV episode in four seconds;
- Download a 150 Megabyte music album in two seconds; and
- Download 15 Gigabyte video game in two minutes
Comcast Business is also offering DOCSIS 3.1-based internet service to business customers in Adams and York counties. With the continued rollout of its gig-speed network, Comcast’s “Business Internet 1 Gig” and “Business Internet 500” speed tiers are now available to business customers in the area using the company’s existing network, without the need for any costly or disruptive construction of new network facilities.
