Loud & Proud to be Part of Comcast Cares Day

Comcast Cares Day volunteers in garden

On April 22, more than 2,300 Comcasters and their friends and family will be painting, planting, delivering supplies – and so much more – throughout Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland as part of the 16th Comcast Cares Day. Among dozens of projects, we’ll be clearing invasive plants at the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy at the Frick Environmental Center in Pittsburgh; painting the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center in Morgantown; building furniture at the Spanish American Civic Association Halfway House in Lancaster; and cleaning shelters at the Jefferson County Humane Society and Animal Shelter in Wintersville, Ohio.

Ten years ago, I painted a community center in Claremont, New Hampshire for my first Comcast Cares Day. This year, I will proudly be mulching beds at Northeast Park and Playground in Lebanon, Pennsylvania alongside my fellow Comcast colleagues to “make change happen.”

Comcast Cares Day is more than just a day – it exemplifies Comcast’s 50-year commitment to volunteerism, a commitment that reflects our enthusiasm and compassion for our neighbors and makes us proud to be part of an organization that believes in giving back.

This year, the Company expects more than 100,000 volunteers to participate in approximately 900 projects across the country and around the world. To date, volunteers have contributed nearly five million volunteer hours at 7,700 projects since Comcast Cares Day began in 2001.

The Comcast Foundation will also provide grants to local community partner organizations on behalf of everyone who volunteers on Comcast Cares Day. The grants will help Comcast’s community partners continue their mission of serving the community throughout the year. To date, the Comcast Foundation has awarded more than $20 million in grants to local non-profit organizations who have served as partners on Comcast Cares Day.

Additionally, Comcast will once again fold in the broad support and amplification of Global Citizen and Red Nose Day, organizations aiming to end extreme poverty globally and in the United States. These organizations use the universal language of music and entertainment as a vehicle to engage people around the world to make a difference. By amplifying our support of these initiatives on Comcast Cares Day, Comcast NBCUniversal is providing additional ways to help drive positive change in our communities.

Join us on April 22!  Near your home or near your office, make a difference and make change happen here and learn more about Comcast NBCUniversal’s volunteer and community investment initiatives here.
