Comcasters support YWCA and Latin American Cultural Center events

Last month, Comcast’s Unidos and BEN Employee Resource Groups volunteered to support local organizations serving central Pennsylvania’s Black and Latino communities.

On Saturday April 28, Unidos and BEN partnered together in Harrisburg to support the YWCA’s 2018 Race Against Racism 5k Run/Walk which promotes awareness of racism in the community and raises vital funds to support our racial justice programs. Unidos and BEN participated as Xfinity Ambassadors while directing traffic and ensuring the 600+ Run/Walk participants were safely able to navigate the 5k route through downtown Harrisburg.

On Saturday April 28, Unidos members were invited to the Latin American Cultural Center’s (LACC) Annual Spring Gala in Lancaster, PA. LACC’s is a non-profit organization that engages in educational, civic, and charitable activities to encourage Latinos and non-Latinos to promote, develop, and preserve the spirit, diversity, and richness of the Latin American cultural heritage and to share common cross-cultural experiences.

Maria Medina, Regional Lead for Unidos, was the keynote speaker and shared her personal experiences navigating corporate America while staying true to her Latina culture. In addition to amazing food, music and dancing, Unidos members had the opportunity to network with community members who share a passion for diversity.

Unidos and BEN are two of the six regional employee resource groups Comcast sponsors, in addition to Out@Comcast, Veterans Network, Women’s Network and Young Professionals Network.
